Seabird-watching on the Gold Coast

White-necked Petrel

Unfortunately Samsonvale is not ideally placed for seabird-watching and the nearest areas to the ocean are Bribie Island and the Gold Coast, however monthly pelagics are run from the Gold Coast, Last weekend I was fortunate to attend an exceptionally good one, 5 species of 'Pterodroma' petrel, Shearwaters, Jaegers, Tropicbirds, Frigatebirds and Cetaceans.

For more information see our Pelagics page under Resources

Springtime has arrived in Samsonvale, there are far more observations of Eastern Brown and Red-bellied Black Snakes than usual. These pics were taken by Jill Brown at the cemetery in early-October. Please take care when birding in the area
